Welcome to my practice.

I'm Courtney Hamlin, MA, LMFT, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the South Bay and Westside of Los Angeles, California. I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients – adults, young adults, teens, couples, and families – from a variety of backgrounds. I specialize in working with Couples and their many common challenges including, but not limited to: communication, intimacy, financial or emotional stress, resentments, infidelity, family dynamics, or attachment insecurities. Additionally, I specialize in working with addiction, and the complexities that often underlie and drive addiction, such as: shame, guilt, trauma, anxiety, isolation, chronic pain, poor self-esteem, depression, other mental health diagnoses, and/or environmental stressors.

I provide a professional, knowledgeable, supportive, and empathic environment that fosters emotional wellbeing. I help my clients identify core issues that may be creating recurring problems, and empower them with practical tools to overcome these hurdles. I can help you tackle many different types of difficulties, setbacks, and gain self-discovery.

We all experience difficult times in our lives, whether it’s feeling lost, trapped, or traumatized by unfortunate events. Therapy offers a safe, honest, and nonjudgmental space to gain insight into our experiences, develop self-awareness and self-compassion, and gain a deeper understanding of our relationship with self and others. It helps us identify problematic life patterns, and find constructive ways to move forward. We gain an understanding of our unconscious motives and desires while exploring our deepest fears and anxieties.

“A great many clients have conflicts in the realm of intimacy, and obtain help in therapy sheerly through experiencing an intimate relationship with the therapist. Some fear intimacy because they believe there is something basically unacceptable about them, something repugnant and unforgivable, Given this, the act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help.” -Irvin D.
